Mission

Our mission is to give nurses the tools they need to take
healthcare-acquired trauma out of nursing practice.

Trauma Free Nursing Vision.jpg

Our Vision

We envision a transformed nursing profession dedicated to providing trauma-free nursing care that creates an environment for true healing while it ignites passion, increases aliveness, and restores balance and harmony in nurses and in the systems in which they work.

Our Values

We...

  • Support the ethical practice of nursing.

  • Honor the sacred trust patients place in nurses.

  • Restore the deep joy and satisfaction of caregiving.

  • Create a shared experience that benefits both the nurse and the patient.

  • Meet the biologically based core needs of healthy human experience.

  • Increase the nurses ability to recognize and heal the suffering of others.

Our Logo

The two Celtic hearts represent the Anam Cara of Trauma-Free Nurses while the two diamonds they form represent rebirth, revival and transformation.

According to Celtic spiritual tradition, the soul shines all around the body like a luminous cloud. When you are very open – appreciative and trusting – with another person, your two souls flow together. This deeply-felt bond with another person means you have found your Anam Cara or “Soul Friend”. Your soul friend always beholds your light and beauty, and accepts you for who you truly are.

– John O’Donahue

Nurses are the Anam Cara, the Soul Friend. They touch their patient’s hearts with their compassionate presence, and listen, guide and love them for their true self — no matter how bad their illness or how bad their injury. When nursing is practiced the way it was intended to be practiced, the soul of the nurse and the soul of their patient flow together to a place of peace in each of their hearts, and to a place where they can encounter the unconditional love of the Divine…each in their own way.
